The Four Questions Series

Six pieces, in a stated order — not just because they were written that way, but because each later piece leans on the one before it.

  1. Three Out of Four — orgs answer Fit for What, Fit by Whom, and Fit How quickly and confidently, then stall on Fit Until When and call three-of-four fitness by default.
  2. The Direction Isn’t the Destination (Fit for What) — aspiration versus a testable stated condition.
  3. Who’s Allowed to Say No (Fit by Whom) — accountability versus proximity to evidence.
  4. Describing the Method Is Not Testing It (Fit How) — process description versus an actual fitness judgment.
  5. The Difference Between a Date and a Trigger (Fit Until When) — a scheduled review ritual versus a real condition or trigger.
  6. The Question You Didn’t Mean to Answer — the four questions form a dependency chain; asking one out of order doesn’t skip it, it silently substitutes an easier question in its place.
